ABOUT US

â€‹In 2021, in the midst of the global pandemic, a small group of dedicated Montessori educators was granted a rare gift: time.
During this pause, they reflected deeply on their shared passion for child development and Montessori education. They were struck by the juxtaposition between the rapid growth of Mebane, North Carolina, and its limited access to high-quality early childhood education. With decades of combined Montessori experience and a vision for something more, they set out to create a school that would meet this community need--a nurturing, safe, intimate, and authentic Montessori environment. This dream became the first-ever Montessori school in Mebane.

Children’s Garden Montessori School officially opened its doors in August 2022.
Rooted in the principles of strong family partnerships, intimate classroom settings, and highly qualified educators, the school offers authentic Montessori education for children aged 18 months through 6 years. Serving Mebane and the surrounding communities, Children’s Garden Montessori School is committed to honoring each child’s unique path of development.

Now, after three full years of operation, our school community has grown.
Our passionate teaching team has expanded, and so has our ability to share the Montessori philosophy with an ever-widening circle of families. As we look to the future, CGMS remains steadfast in our mission—to offer a high-quality Montessori experience while building meaningful connections with the children and families we serve. We are proud of our growth and are committed to remaining true to the values on which our school was founded.

OUR MISSION

Children’s Garden Montessori School is dedicated to nurturing the whole child in all areas of development: intellectual, emotional, social, and physical. Our curriculum is rooted in the Montessori philosophy of education and human development. We provide this within an intimate, safe, and supportive environment where each child is respected as a unique individual.

What's in a Name?

When shaping the vision for our school, we looked back to the very first Montessori classroom, the Casa dei Bambini, which means "Children's House." We wanted to carry forward that same sense of belonging, but also highlight what makes our community unique.

While a house is warm and familiar, a garden felt even more symbolic of what we value. A garden is a place of growth, beauty, and nurture. It requires care, patience, and attention, just as children do. It reflects the natural cycle of life and learning, where each child grows at their own pace and flourishes when supported in a prepared environment.

At Children's Garden Montessori, we are more than a school. We are a community rooted in respect, nurtured with love, and always growing together.

How is Montessori Different?
